LBUSD was honored this month as one of 975 school districts across the nation to receive the 2024 Best Communities for Music Education Award from the NAMM Foundation. This award acknowledges districts and schools for their exceptionally high commitment to and accessibility of music education, emphasizing the importance of integrating music education into a comprehensive educational framework.

During its March 14 meeting, the LBUSD Board of Education awarded contracts for design services for the modernization of the Laguna Beach High School pool and classroom upgrades at El Morro and Top of the World Elementary School, projects identified in the district’s Ten-Year Facilities Master Plan.

On Tuesday, ACSA Region 17, which covers all school districts in Orange County, announced its 2024 Administrators of the Year including two LBUSD administrators. Victoria Webber, executive assistant to the superintendent and board, was named the Classified Leader of the Year, and El Morro Elementary School Principal Julie Hatchel, Ed.D., was named the Elementary Principal of the Year.

LBUSD today released its 2023 Annual Report to the Community, detailing the district’s educational initiatives, accomplishments, and vision for the future. 

LBUSD is proud to announce the selection of Shannon Chastain, a third-grade teacher at El Morro Elementary School, as Teacher of the Year and Lynn Gregory, College and Career Specialist at Laguna Beach High School, as Classified Employee of the Year.
