LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. – The Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education on Jan. 8 approved final actions to move forward with the construction of the Laguna Beach High School pool modernization project.

Launching January 28, Strength in Parenting is a new monthly seminar-style series for parents and guardians of students in grades 5–12. Designed to reduce isolation and build confidence, the series focuses on preventing alcohol and drug misuse through guided conversation and practical, take-home strategies.

Laguna Beach Unified School District today announced that Marianne Lawson, an elementary school counselor at El Morro Elementary School, has been named the 2025–26 Orange County Elementary School Counselor of the Year by the Orange County Department of Education.

New student enrollment for Laguna Beach Unified School District will open on Wednesday, Feb. 11. 

Summer program dates are now available for students in grades 1–8, grades 9–12, and the LEAD (Learn, Enrich, Advance, Discover) summer program.

Cama Stevens, an elementary visual and performing arts teacher on special assignment in Laguna Beach Unified School District, has been honored with the 2026 Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) Award by the Orange County Music and Arts Administrators (OCMAA). 

LBUSD this week announced its 2025 Employees of the Year, recognizing Randi Beckley, a world language French teacher at Thurston Middle School with 19 years of service, as Teacher of the Year, and Thasa Zuziak, a special education instructional aide at Laguna Beach High School with 12 years of service, as Classified Employee of the Year.
